We fund not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations in northern Nigeria that directly educate and empower impoverished girls and young women in this region. Please note that proposals are by invitation only.

Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative (IWEI)

Kano State, Nigeria

JFHF funds IWEI “safe spaces” that provide basic academic instruction to young girls already enrolled in government primary schools.

JFHF funds IWEIs program to provide eligible girls’ education in private primary and secondary schools.

Centre for Girls’ Education (CGE)

Kaduna State, Nigeria

JFHF funds CGE “safe spaces” called Ci Gaba that provide Montessori-based educational experiences to young girls whose families have not enrolled them in government primary schools. After completing the Ci Gaba program, these girls enter primary school at a high rate.

JFHF funds CGE’s “mentors” program that prepares young women who work in various CGE programs to complete entrance exams to institutions of higher education.
